5 Minute Sweet and Sour Sauce

One of the easiest ways to change to cleaner eating is by making condiments and sauces homemade like this quick and easy 5 Minute Sweet and Sour Sauce. I love doing this and then tossing it with a protein or creating a bowl to add just the right amount of flavor. Growing up, one of my favorite things was to head to McDonad’s and dunk my nuggets in the sweet and sour. Now, I can get all of the flavors of one of my childhood favorites without the junk.
5 Minute Sweet and Sour Sauce
Servings: 15
Equipment
- 1 sauce pan
Ingredients
- 6 oz Organic Pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup Rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp Organic Ketchup
- 1/3 cup Organic Light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Coconut aminos
Slurry
- 1 tbsp Arrow root
- 1 1/2 tbsp Water
Instructions
- In a sauce pan over medium heat, combine the pineapple juice, rice vinegar, ketchup, light brown sugar and coconut aminos.
- Mix together the water and arrow root to create a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the sauce pan and turn to low. Whisk together until thickened.
- Remove and pour into a ball jar. Let cool to room temperature.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
