Wooden background with a white cutting board and 5 biscuit bombs placed on top with cheese sprinkled on the top.

Your favorite breakfast just got a makeover.

Biscuits and gravy are a favorite in our house.  These biscuit bombs take one of our favorite breakfasts up a notch and we love that you can make them ahead and freeze for busy mornings.  That way you can grab this favorite comfort food whenever you get the urge.

Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American
Keyword: breakfast hash, breakfast prep
Servings: 18

Ingredients

  • 18 Buttermilk biscuits  (2 batches buttermilk biscuit dough from guide)
  • 16 oz. Breakfast sausage (Naturally is the type we get- free from preservatives)
  • 2 tbsp Einkorn flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 18 Cheddar cheese (cubes)

Instructions

  • Make our biscuit recipe, shown below but don't bake.
  • Cook the sausage on the stove top over medium heat in your favorite pan. I love to use cast iron- breaking it up just like you would for biscuits and gravy.
  • Once the meat is cooked through coat with flour. Pour in the milk and stir until thickened.
  • Cut up the cheese into small cubes.
  • Grab your raw biscuit and put 1 TBSP. of the meat mixture in the center with one cheese cube. Press the edges together to form a ball.
  • Be sure the edges are sealed.
  • Either flash freeze on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and store in a Ziploc bag or bake immediately.
  • To bake cook in the oven at 425 for 15-20 minutes until the outside is golden.

Notes

Reheat
  • Preheat the oven to 350 f. Place biscuits on a lined sheet pan and warm in oven at for 10-12 minutes. You can also thaw in microwave for 1-2 minutes to reheat.
