Celery Root Mashed Potatoes
Love mashed potatoes, but want to make them healthier? Try adding celery root and enjoy the same texture with a more complex flavor. Next time you want mashed potatoes try this fun take.

Celery Root Mashed Potatoes
Servings: 6
Equipment
- 1 mixer
- 1 large pan
- 1 bowl
Ingredients
- 6 russet potatoes (peeled and scrubbed)
- ½ celery root (peeled and sliced into cubes)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ cup sour cream
- 6 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Fill an 8 qt. pan with cold water. Add in cold water until ¾ full.
- Place the 6 russet potatoes (peeled) and ½ celery root into the cold water. Place the pan on the stove and place over medium heat.
- Boil until you can easily poke a fork into the potatoes and celery root.
- Drain and place back into the pan. Add in 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp onion powder, ½ cup sour creamand 6 tbsp butter.
- Whip with a beater until fully mashed.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- You can freeze these and store up to 2 months. Bring to room temperature first and then place in an air tight freezer safe container.
