Holiday Puppy Chow

Ingredients

  • 12 oz Rice chex
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 cup Cashew butter
  • 10 oz Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Peppermint
  • 2 1/2 cup Powdered sugar (we love wholesome brand)
  • 10 Crushed candy canes (we use Yum Earth- natural dye!)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, add 12 oz of rice chex, set aside
  • Then in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat add 4 tbsp butter, 1 c cashew butter, and 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Stir until smooth, turn off heat
  • Then add 2 tsp vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp peppermint extract, whisk well
  • Add to rice chex and toss gently to coat evenly
  • Then in Ziploc bag crush candy canes, then add 2 1/2 c powdered sugar, toss to mix
  • Dump powdered sugar and candy canes over chocolate chex mix and fold gently to coat
  • Dump onto parchment paper or sheet tray and allow to cool. You can coat with more powdered sugar if some melts while still hot
  • Store in Ziploc bags for up to 5 days or you can freeze it in advance!
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Storage
  • Store in ziploc bag at room temp for up to 5 days.
  • You can also freeze for up to 2 months in advance.
  • Thaw at room temperature for an hour before eating and coat with extra powdered sugar if needed
