Perfect Summer Appetizer: Gruyere, Bacon, and Onion Flatbread

Whether you’re looking for a quick and easy appetizer to serve at your next barbecue, or are just in the mood for a delicious snack, this Gruyere, Bacon, and Onion Flatbread is sure to hit the spot.

The Chewy Crust
The crust is an important part of any flatbread, and this recipe makes sure to get it just right. A combination of bread flour and all-purpose flour creates a perfect balance of chewiness and structure for the crust.

After kneading the dough, let it rise and then roll it out thin. Be sure to poke the dough with a fork before putting it into the oven. This will prevent large air bubbles from forming and ensure a more uniform texture.

The Toppings
The toppings for this flatbread are what really make it stand out. Gruyere cheese, bacon and onion make a classic and delicious combination. Gruyere is a flavorful Swiss cheese with a nutty, slightly sweet taste. When combined with the salty bacon and red onions, it creates a perfect balance of flavors.

Serving Suggestions
This is a versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, a snack or even a light summer meal. Cut it into small, bite-sized pieces for a party and serve it with a cold glass of beer or wine. Or pair it with a crisp salad for a light dinner option. The chewy crust, delicious toppings and easy preparation make it a go-to recipe for any summer get-together.
